Involves about 80km of good hard packed dirt road, of which about 40km is gravel topped. Keep a wary eye out for wildlife & roadkill. About 10hrs by car, 12hrs by bike mainly because of the gravel. Watch out for plod between Yea & Mansfield. 24hr Fuel stops at Mansfield, Myrtleford and Tumut. However Whitfield, Yackandandah, Tallangatta, Tumbarumba and Wee Jasper close early so plan carefully (I've got a 22L tank and can cover about 400k). No fuel at Rosewood, so duck out to Holbrook. Recommend overnighting at Tallangatta, makes for a more pleasant run. Cheers.

Road turns to dirt at the border and continues to the T intersection, where you turn right and back onto tarmac.

In spring when the grass is green, this has to be one of the best spots for a picnic as you reach the Yass road.

More dirt, (about 5ks) road works appear to indicate it could be sealed before too long.

Has to be one of NSW's prettier country locations, if you have the time, visit the caves and camp overnight. But remember to Fuel up.

A long section of dirt begins here, and is passable most of the year, but be careful of pot-holes along by the creek.

The road to the right leads to Adjungbilly, Gobaralong and Coolac and is sealed nearly all the way.

Turn left here at the T intersection for Tumut, right heads back out to Gundagai.

Logging trucks midweek, but weekends, woohoo!! You're forgiven for thinking you're in the Black Forest.

WARNING! Watch this intersection, especially for traffic comming down from the left. There's only one sign on the Bombowlee creek road and I blinked! Thankfully it was a nice quiet weekend.

Decisions, decisions, which way do we go, the low road, the high road or the one in between.... The low road goes Batlow, Tumbarumba, Jingelic. The Old Tumbarumba road bypasses Batlow, but the high road is the twistier of the three.

Roos abound through the forest, and logging trucks during the week are busy.

Take the Lower Bargo road to the left for a shortcut to Tumbarumba and fuel if you forget to fill up inTumut.

Not sure, but if memory serves then the tarmac starts again somewhere here.

Woomargama and Albury to the right, but we want more twisties, so left it is.

Join up here with the tarmac lovers who detoured via Batlow and Tumbarrumba to get fuel, at least that was the excuse they used.

Autumn picnic lunches at the footy oval or a pie from the general store. Optional overnight at the Pub left along the river road on the NSW side.

WARNING: This is a popular spot where those too busy enjoying the view wind up taking that fatal flying leap.

The Sandy Creek road, goes nowhere, but is a pleasant detour if you have the time, beware of wasps in spring/summer

The back road down to Mt Beauty starts here also for an alternate overnight location.

Left for Myrtleford, Dandongadale and dirt, right for Beechworth, Moyhu and tarmac, meet up in Whitfield at the pub for a feed or another nap.
