Pacific Hwy " BP Koala is here right on the Y junction, and reopened Jan 09 after refitting new fuel tanks. Also a good meeting place for rides.

Turn rt at lights here.
Hornsby Hts
Caltex servo is the right at Grevillea. Lat chance to fuel up if you are low and heading towards Galston Gorge.
Hornsby Heights
Down hill run starts with about 6 hairpins. Watch cars and bikes taking up too much road at the hairpins. Try not to stop on the hairpin, it gets tricky starting off again for bigger bikes as the road slopes all directions.
Historic Galston gorge
The only type of wooden truss bridge of its kind in NSW. No passing on bridge. Give way sign on south side.

Turn rt at this roundabout. Greenshades Cafe/Restaurant in on this turn, and welcomes bikes here for lunch breakfast or coffee.
Fagen Park
Public recreational park. Run by Hornsby Council

Very hidden intersection. Turn left here
Glenorie
Take great care turning right as it is not very apparent how busy the cross arm of this T junction is. 80 kpm or faster traffic passes frequently.
Forest Glen
Speeds go up to 90kpm but you need to be watrching overtaking cars and bikes.

These last couple of downhill kilometres before the township are steep and winding so you should exercise care.
Wisemans ferry
Dont make the mistake of taking the Webbs Creek ferry on the left as it heads off to St Albans, perhaps awaiting a ride on another day.

We will stop here and have a cold drink or a coffee at the pub or one of the takeaway shops.
Wisemans Ferry Crossing
There are two ferries here and both operate in busy periods, being cable operated, this is the oldest cable ferry in NSW. Thgere is a kiosk, but it is pretty basic. Toilets available. Will have to queue for a place on the ferry but not usually for very long. Free service.
Wisemans Ferry
As you follow the Hawkesbury towards Central mangrove, you have an hour long ride. mostly 80 kpm. The road is pretty good and all scenic. Winds its way generally north east now.

Just a locality on the map. Always 60 kpm when a populated region turns up alon g the way.
Approaching Spencer
Some of these tree canopy hidden roads get a bit moss covered at times so look out for the lines to take. Low damp country, especially in the shadows of trees on the south side.

There is shops and a wharf here but not a real lot else. Always busy with cars stopping.

Road starts to climb and more open roadway with better visibility.

We continue North on George Downes road, but on another occasion Springs Road is a pleasant trip to Wyong via Yarramalong

Picnics grounds here have gas BBQs free to the public courtesy of Gosford council.
Shelter and a good toilet. Fantastic look out over the dam which is about 22% full now.
